Maria Lezhnina is an artist and architect whose work spans installation, public art, and spatial research. Her practice explores perception, landscape, and relational systems through sculpture, photography, and participatory interventions, often operating at the intersection of art, architecture, and the public realm.
Born in Kazan, and based in Taipei, Lezhnina works internationally across Asia and Europe. Her projects have been presented in Taiwan, China, Europe, and Japan, and include solo exhibitions, public art commissions, artist residencies, and institutional group exhibitions. Recent presentations include solo exhibitions at IT Park Gallery, public art and research projects developed through residencies at the Taitung Art Museum, and international group exhibitions such as In Balance at Palazzo Borromeo.
Her work is frequently situated within public and semi-public contexts, where artistic form becomes a tool for examining how environments are perceived, inhabited, and shared. Across permanent installations, temporary exhibitions, and research-based projects, she investigates how spatial systems mediate relationships between bodies, landscapes, and cultural frameworks.
Lezhnina holds a Master of Arts in Urban Vision and Architectural Design from Domus Academy. Her background in architecture informs a practice grounded in material inquiry, structural thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration, while maintaining a strong conceptual and artistic autonomy.
